Licenses & Endorsements
- Valid angling license required.
- E-tagging with MyODFW app: tag immediately after harvest (keep device charged; Field Mode works offline).
Endorsements / Permits
- Two-Rod Validation Only where allowed (youth under 12 may use two rods where legal without the validation).
- Columbia River Basin Endorsement Required on Columbia Basin waters.
- Rogue–South Coast Validation Applies in Rogue–South Coast waters.
- Waterway Access Permit Paddlecraft ≥10 ft must carry a permit (one per craft, transferrable).
- AIS Prevention Permit Required for non-resident trailered motorboats.

Bag & Possession Limits
- General possession: up to 3 daily bag limits for all species (incl. jack salmon).
- Adult salmon & steelhead: no possession limit.
- Pacific halibut: 1 daily bag on a vessel; 3 daily bag in possession on land.
- Columbia River: limited to 1 daily bag and 1 annual bag for all fish from the Columbia River, even with OR & WA licenses.
Annual limits
- White sturgeon: 2 per year.
- Pacific halibut: 6 per year.
- Salmon + steelhead (combined): 20 per year (hatchery fish recorded on the Hatchery Harvest Tag do not count toward the 20).

Length Limits (selected highlights)
- Jacks: Chinook/Pink/Chum 15–24″; Coho 15–20″. Adults are longer than those sizes. Sockeye have no jack class.
- Steelhead/Trout in NW & SW Zones: Steelhead ≥16″, Trout ≤16″. All other zones: Steelhead ≥20″, Trout ≤20″.
- Measurement: shortest straight-line tip of snout to tip of tail; special methods for halibut and sturgeon.

Methods & Hours
- Game fish harvest by angling only. Daylight hours for salmon, shad, steelhead, sturgeon, trout, whitefish (1 hr before sunrise to 1 hr after sunset) unless exceptions.
- Do not remove eggs from salmon/steelhead/sturgeon without retaining carcass in the field; maintain fish in identifiable condition.
- Sturgeon: one single-point barbless hook; do not remove sturgeon >54″ fork length from the water.

Gear & Bait
- Snagging prohibited statewide.
- Anti-snag rule (where in effect): one single-point hook, gap ≤3/4″; weight ≥18″ above lure/bait; leader length restrictions apply.
- Bobber rule for salmon/steelhead (where in effect): bobber required; leader ≤36″; weight within 36″ when suspended.
- Hooks/weight general: ≤3 hooks total; double/treble count as one. Barbless/single may be required in specific waters.
- Species specifics: Halibut ≤2 hooks; inland salmon/steelhead hook gap restrictions; ocean salmon barbless only (≤2 single-point).

Unlawful Activities (high-level)
- Use more than one rod/line except where Two-Rod Validation is allowed; youth exception where legal.
- Use drones/RC craft to aid angling; snag gamefish; chum (inland) except specific offshore pelagic scenarios.
- Continue angling after keeping your bag/possession limit (with listed exceptions); catch all/part of another’s limit.
- Fish within 200 ft of fishways/weirs/traps; take fish from hatchery facilities; possess or alter ODFW signs.
- Transport/hold/release live fish or eggs without ODFW permit (limited exceptions).

Definitions
- Adipose fin: small fatty fin between dorsal and tail on some salmonids.
- Artificial fly: hook dressed with fly-tying materials (weights/eyes allowed). Excludes sinkers/spinners/spoons/attractors.
- Bait: not an artificial fly, lure, or attractor; scented items are not bait by themselves.
- Wild fish: un-clipped fins; Hatchery fish: fin-clipped.
